I wholeheartedly agree with Nick!
Reading fiction requires the willingness to suspend disbelief...it is not necessary to abandon one's own belief system.
By the way for thise who haven't seen the latest issue, Horn Book's Nov/Dec issue is dedicated to politics and religion as they pertains to children's literature....
