MERRI'S MESSAGE: We've had an informative discussion over the past month about science fiction and fantasy for children and teens. A recognition of the current surge of interest in the genres began our month, and then we moved on to focus on "Enchantress From the Stars." I would like to thank author Sylvia Engdahl for allowing us to get her response to questions about "Enchantress" and its recent re-issue and for all she contributed throughout the month to the discussion in general. We feel very fortunate to have had your participation, Sylvia! We've all benefitted from the many fantasy books that have been suggested during the second half of the month. Thanks to everyone who was involved in this discussion.
Shortly - after we have a couple of days for announcements - we will begin the December CCBC-Net discussion of "Favorites of the Year." This is always an enjoyable topic, and everyone has a book to champion. We look forward to hearing your opinion!
