Gizmos, Gadgets, and Flying Frogs: The Art of William Joyce and David Wiesner November 10, 2001 to January 27, 2002
Plan to visit the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin, for an adventure into the imaginative works of two amazing artists. David Wiesner, as special guest for the opening weekend, will kick off a schedule of over 50 community events co-sponsored by the Museum, the Marathon County Public Library, and the Wisconsin Valley Library Service.
David Wiesner events include: Saturday, November 10 at 9:30 a.m.: Public Lecture at the Museum 11:30 to 1:00 p.m.: Autograph Reception at the Library Sunday, November 11, 1:00 to 3:00: Picture Book Celebration at the Museum
The 112 original illustrations comprising "Gizmos, Gadgets, and Flying Frogs"- 44 by Wiesner and 58 by Joyce - are on loan from the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature, Abilene, Texas. Support for the exhibition's presentation in Wausau has been provided by the Judd S. Alexander Foundation and the Wisconsin Arts Board. David Wiesner's visit is funded by a LIVE! _at_ your library grant from the American Library Association.
