Enid Blyton was my favourite author when I was a child and I devoured her Famous Five books and her Adventure series. I was horrified to find out that she is not very well respected. Of course when i tried to share my lovely stories with my children I discovered why. I had to stop every few minutes and have a chat about why her views on any number of subjects are not acceptable today. My daughter was particularly disgusted with her portrayal of girls.
