We call these titles "stepping stones," and have a gold label we put on their spines. Then they're shelved in with the Juvenile Fiction, right after the BEGINNING READERS shelves. Since David Adler has written so many of the titles we identify as "stepping stone," it's easy for the children (and their parents) to transition to the longer books for independent reading.
