As a public librarian, I am so pleased to hear teachers say they recommend picture books to second and third grade students (they should go even higher, of course). Far too many teachers discourage reading these wonderful books once children have become proficient enough to read the "Chapter books" Hooray for those of you who sing the praised of some of the most wonderful literature for kids of all ages!
