I've just caught up on my October CCBC messages. Lots of fantastic titles have been mentioned, and I am particularly encouraged by those who admit to using comic books. (The Dark Knight Returns (Batman) is my particular favorite, though it's probably not appropriate for young children.
        I'm a big Jerry Spinelli fan and was delighted to discover his easy TOOTER PEPPERDAY books. Spinelli managed to make them accessible to younger readers without sacrificing any of what makes his books so true to life.
