Hello CCBC,
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the publication of Winnie-the-Pooh, the librarians as The New York Public Library's Central Children's Room invite you to join us for a very special visit with the British author Ann Thwaite. Ms. Thwaite, who has written more than thirty children's books, is best known in this country for her definitive biography of A.A. Milne
(1990) and The Brilliant Career of Winnie-the-Pooh (1994). Ms. Thwaite will discuss Milne's literary contributions, and the complexities of his relationship with the larger than life character of his invention, Winnie-the-Pooh. This event will take place on Thursday, October 11th at the Donnell Library at 20 West 53rd Street. A reception will start at 6:00 p.m. with the program following at 6:30 p.m.
Plan to enjoy our "Picture Pooh?ct" Exhibit as well. A selection of over forty works by Ernest Howard Shepard are on loan from the archives of Pooh's U.S. publisher, Dutton Children's Books. The works include finished art, variant drawings, color separations, and unpublished work. The art will be on display through November 6, 2001.
For further information, call Jeanne Lamb or John Peters at (212) 62138 Central Children's Room, The New York Public Library
