I read all the Little House books as a child but was left with the distinct impression that they were racist towards 'Indians'. In one of them Pa sang a derogatory song about blacks and Little House on the Prairie is definitely racist, especially the character of Ma.
I think the best of them all was On the Banks of Plum Creek. I don't recall that one being racist.
