Dear CCBC readers, You are cordially invited to the second, bi-annual Anne Scott MacLeod Children's Literature Lecture on Friday, October 19, 2001. Claudia Mills will deliver the 2001 MacLeod Children's Literature Lecture:
" 'Innocents' or 'Dumbbells'...An Ethical Appraisal of the Portrayal of Mental Disability in Children's Literature." The event will take place Friday, October 19, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Maryland School of Architecture Auditorium, College Park, Maryland. Claudia Mills is the author of more than 30 children's books, including Lisse at Last, Gus and Grandpa, Dinah Forever, and she is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Colorado, Boulder. This event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the program. Please call to RSVP (301) 405 48, or send an email message to ww17 at umail.umd.edu. Contributions in support of the MacLeod Lecture series may be sent to the Anne Scott MacLeod Children's Literature Endowment c/o College of Information Studies, 4105 Hornbake South, University of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742.
