just wrote an article for September's SLJ on a topic
very similar, so that may be why I felt the need to

But of course--there are many venues for reviews. For six years, I've done reviews of children's books for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (the largest statewide newspaper)and my reviews reflected by personal opinion. That's it.
Did I like it or not and why. Sometimes, I put the book in context of the author's books, or I gave cautions to parents (as in, I consider this book a PG). Emotional response was one of the thengs I considered. For example, Elaine Marie Alphin's book, Counterfeit Son, brought a strong emotional response, and I expressed that freely.

So--it just depends.
