Some random thoughts about sports books.
My kids (and my husband) love reading hockey stories. It is our primary sport here in southern Ontario and we have any number of titles, both fiction and non-fiction. One of our favourites is The Moccasin Goalie which takes place in a small prairie town. My husband's favourite book of all time is about Roger Crozier but the title is escaping me right now.
Often the Toronto Maple Leafs' game program is available on newsstands and my kids love to pore over the pictures and the interviews.
I don't know about anyone else but I often find sports novels a little dull. i prefer biographies or picture books. An exception would be Chris Crutcher books which are not really about the sport, ditto for Tangerine by Edward Bloor.
