Award-winning children's book chronicler Leonard Marcus presents a program for writers, illustrators and anyone interested in children's literature - "Side by Side: Picture Book Makers and the Spirit of Collaboration" - on Saturday, September 29 from 9:30 to 2:00 in the President's Lounge in Lewis Hall, Dominican University, 7900 W. Division St. in River Forest. Walker will publish Marcus' latest book, SIDE BY SIDE: FIVE FAVORITE PICTURE-BOOK TEAMS GO TO WORK in October. The book profiles five pairings of children's book authors and illustrators, including Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith and Alice and Martin Provensen. Come listen, look, learn and grow as Marcus shares the collaborative spirit of these talented writers and illustrators.

     Marcus is also the author of DEAR GENIUS, MARGARET WISE BROWN: AWAKENED BY THE MOON and AUTHOR TALK.

     The program is sponsored by the Illinois Chapter of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.

     Admission is $25 for SCBWI members, $30 for non-members.
