Neil, we have a bibliography on the relocation and internment of Japanese Americans at: http://www.cynthialeitichsmith.com/newnihonb.htm I hope it's of some use to you. If you find any additional books to suggest, please let us know. Greg H. Leitich P.S. We've also just begun adding a list of books potentially relevant to this week's events at: http://www.cynthialeitichsmith.com/healingus.html

Megan asked for books to help deal with anti-Arab sentiment. I'm too tired to write much or worry about syntax. Teaching fifth grade on Long Island has been exhausting this week. The way that I'm handling the anticipated anti-Arab and anti-Muslim sentiment is to begin a unit on the WWII Japanese internment camps. Two good books are Jerry Stanley's "I Am An American" and "Baseball Saved Us" by Mochizuki (I may be off on the author, but the title is correct.) There are a number or other books on the subject, both nonfiction and historical fiction. I'll say more if people are interested, but not right now.
One other thing - The book "One April Morning" discusses the Oklahoma City bombing from children's point of view. Might be useful to some. Neil Sklar
