I believe we heard from at least two young people who spoke on this ListServ about how exciting and wonderful these books were to them. Since we rarely hear from children, I think it says something about Cormier's appeal.

No one has commented on Other Bells for Us to Ring, a rather sweet tale of friendship across two cultures. My memory is that it was just right for kids in late elementary school--grades 3--5. Cormier had appeal that stretched beyond The Chocolate War. (pardon the play on words!) We just have to look at more of an author's writing sometime.
