         You're certainly entitled to your opinion. And as long as you confine your comments to The Chocolate War, which you've read, I'm even willing to objectively consider your point of view (much as it might differ from my own.)
         The problem for me (and others, it seems) is that you have repeatedly made reference to Cormier's "bookS" or "workS." Since you've read only one of them, you are in no position to comment on the author's body of work. Yes, you have a right to do so. No, nobody will take your comments seriously. And furthermore, if you insist on making critical comments about things you have only secondhand knowledge of, and if you defend yourself by pointing out that you're entitled to your opinion, you're guilty of exactly what you charge Jerry Renault with: Taking a stand for the sake of taking a stand.
