I read most of this month's messages in a single glurp -- which was both interesting and slightly overwhelming. While reading, I was surprised by the aggressive edge that seemed to rear itself throughout the Cormier discussion.
Looking back, I find the contrast between the recent discussions of Wolff's work and of Cormier's curious. Everything from the tenor of the laudatory posts to the tenor of the arguments between posters is different.
I wonder why? Does this imply something about the books themselves -what they engender? Or is this an artifact of something else?
Just pondering...
