[CCBC-Net] Booker winners and hope

Actually, Rukhsana, I kindly disagree. I believe all fiction, YA or Adult, has to be true to the story. If the ending is sad or even hopeless and it's the proper one for a novel, that's the ending that belongs there. Kids (and adults) are resilient. They need thought provoking works. In my opinion once a writer begins writing a novel with the idea that it has to be hopeful, that writer has and "agenda" and has compromised the "truth" of that story.

Sincerely, Art
