For an interesting "take" by Wolff, read her short story, "Religion From the Greek..." in I BELIEVE IN WATER (Singer, ed.) Harper's 2000.
"Nick Swanson" was the only book on the subject of a mentally handicapped young man that I could offer our spc. ed. teachers years ago. I've always appreciated Wolff's presentation.
