I love thinking of the different True Believer covers -- like different flowers in a garden or different birds singing.
It's been a while since one of my high school classes waded into Myers' FALLEN ANGELS and on the first day after some reading, someone said, "I love this book--I know these are real people, not just "the black" or "the old one" or "the victim --we can't separate and predict here." That fits.
I love the young woman growing into identity, into powers of her influence, into connectings. And as she meets and greets each person in her growing circle of plot pieces and personalities, LaVaughn makes mistakes but learns from them.
I think the almost-too-predictable Ralph may eventually become more of an anchor person for LaVaughn, too. If he were more mercurial and less of a planner, LaVaughn wouldn't learn much as she grows and as he does, too.
