1) We are pleased to announce that the CCBC's annual statistics,
"Children's Books by and about People of Color Published in the United States," are now available on our web site at:

http://www.education.wisc.edu/ccbc/pcstats.htm

These records document the number of children's books published in the United States by and about people of color, 1994 00, as well as children's books written and/or illustrated by African Americans since 1985. We have been able to compile these statistics each year with the assistance of the Coretta Scott King Award Task Force of the American Library Association. Previously these statistics were available each year in the introduction to CCBC Choices or to anyone who contacted the CCBC requesting this information. Web page access will make them more easily and readily available.

2) We have recently updated and expanded our list of "30 Multicultural Books Every Child Should Know" to include 50 books. The revised version is available at:

http://www.education.wisc.edu/ccbc/50mult.htm

3) Coming soon! "Native Peoples of Wisconsin: Books for Children and Teenagers," a bibliography compiled by the CCBC staff in response to requests from Wisconsin teachers and librarians. Check the What's New
(http://www.education.wisc.edu/ccbc/new.htm) page on the CCBC web site early next week to find this bibliography.
