I read Dava Sobel's Longitude a couple of years ago and then thoroughly enjoyed the adaptation of that book done for A&E (you must watch the video if you are at all interested in this topic). When Dash's Longitude Prize arrived, I quickly picked it up - because of the topic but also because of the perfect size and beautiful production quality. Reading Longitude Prize was even more of a treat. The story flows, the information is imparted in a clear and interesting narrative. Harrison and his timepieces is a fascinating piece of history and Dash gives us a book that makes the story even more fascinating. I continually recommend it to adults and children alike, offering them Sobel's book if they want more.
