Plan now to participate in one or more of the upcoming MONTHLY CCBC BOOK DISCUSSIONS. These discussions are the core of all other CCBC information services. They contribute directly to the decisions made by the CCBC staff in planning for end-of-the-year award discussions and selections for the publication "CCBC Choices."
Each of these discussions is open to any adult interested in reading and discussing new books for children and young adults. Participants are usually a mix of classroom teachers; school librarians; public librarians; university students, faculty & staff; writers; artists; members of national or regional award committees; reviewers; publishers; CCBC staff, etc.
Some people plan to participate only during the first hour which is when the shorter books are discussed, while others prefer the second hour when the longer books, usually novels, are considered. It's OK to leave early, or come late.
We use the CCBC Book Discussion Guidelines http://www.education.wisc.edu/ccbc/discguid.htm
All of the discussions are held in the Elizabeth Burr Room of the CCBC on Fridays between 3:30 and 5:30 pm. Future discussion dates are April 20; May 18; June 22; July 20; and August 10.
There is fee. You do not need to register in advance. Just show up!
A gentle reminder: no food or beverages other than water/clear soda can be brought into the CCBC.
The books being discussed each month are at the CCBC Reference Desk. They may be borrowed on an overnight basis or read in the CCBC.
You may phone 608&2?03 or 608&3720 for more information.
The discussion list for the upcoming month is posted on the CCBC web site http://www.education.wisc.edu/ccbc/up4disc.htm Please consider joining us.
