Winding down the Printz Award discussion

There's much more to be said about each of the books honored through the 2001 ALA/YALSA Michael L. Printz Award process. I hope some of you are talking with each other in person about one or more of these provocative books. Perhaps you're in a one-to-one electronic dialogue with someone else in the CCBC-Net community. Maybe you've already made print copies of some of the comments so when you go back to teach or read or talk about one of these books - or about the Printz Award in general - you'll have them for reference.

Thank you to each person who stepped up to comment on one of the books or to interpret more for us about the Printz Award. We're appreciative of the annual award to formally acknowledge excellence in new writing for teenaged readers, and we know more about the award and about the books because of each of you.

If you're in the San Francisco area during the American Library Association conference in June, you might want to attend one or both of the Printz Award events. The Margaret Edwards Award will be presented then, too, to Robert Lipsyte.
