Ah-ha--but WHY didn't Jim Murphy, a really fine writer and presenter of historic events, cite to his sources?
And, why don't other authors (Fradin, J. Stanley, among others) also cite to source? Mind you, better not to cite and be correct in transcription of citation rather than cite and be inaccurate in citation. I expect that hard-nosed editors and copy editors must insist on (a) accuracy in citation and interpretation and (b) citation to source(s). And-that's just the beginning of the process.
Or--is it with all the fakey "diary" writing overwhelming publishers' lists?
