12th Annual Celebration of Children's Literature

The Children's Book Guild of Washington co-sponsors the annual Celebration of Children's Literature, this year to be held on Saturday, April 21st, 2001 at the Germantown Campus of Montgomery College, Germantown, Maryland. Speakers include Walter (the Giant Storyteller) Mayes, Virginia Euwer Wolff, Pamela Duncan Edwards and Henry Cole, Barbara Ann Porte, Deborah Wiles, Uma Krishnaswami, Kathleen Karr, Lydia Okutoro, Mary Quattlebaum, Carla Golembe, Jean Gralley, Diane Monnier, Sharon Grover, Caroline Parr, Kristi Beavin, Maria Salvadore. Small group sessions include a presentations on book illustration, manuscript preparation and getting published, a look at the Newbery Medal winners and at critical evaluation of children's book, young adult literature, writing historical fiction, storytelling. Registration is $70 for Maryland resident; $90 for non-residents and includes continental breakfast, lunch and all program materials.
