List members in the Northeast may be interested in the Rabbit Hill Festival of Literature to be held at the Westport, Connecticut, Public Library March 29-April 1, 2001.

Celebrating the legacy of Westport author/illustrator Robert Lawson, the only person to win both the Newbery (for Rabbit Hill) and the Caldecott
(for They Were Strong and Good), this festival features five Caldecott award and honor book artists: David Wisniewski, David Small, Brian Pinkney, and Ted and Betsy Lewin in a symposium on Saturday, March 31. Panel discussions and workshops with the artists are featured as well as a keynote address by Rosemary Wells on Lawson's heritage and influence on children's book illustration in the 20th century.

The festival begins on Thursday evening, March 29, with a talk and slide show by Westport author/illustrator Leonard Everett Fisher and will include a retrospective display of Fisher's illustration art over 5 decades as well as a display of Lawson originals that will be on loan from the Free Library of Philadelphia. The artists will be in residence in the Westport Schools during the day on Friday.
