Hi, Ginny and all who read this
I too was moved by the Christie illustrations in only Passing Through. Even as Ginny states, I looked at the over-sized hands which seem so symbolic as a sign of strength.
I then reflected back to the way Amani Brenda Robinson paints hands as symbols of strength and unity and Jacob Lawrence's powerful hands for Harriet and the Promised Land" There are so many ways to view art in illustrations - I am constantly looking at what the hands can say.
