A two day short course is being offered by New Perspectives of Bank Street College . January 26th from 5:30 to 9:00 and Saturday 27th from 9 to 5.
Selecting and Evaluating Recently Published Children's Books This course gives participants the opportunity to examine a wide selection of recently published children's books in order to develop and refine selection criteria. We will be focusing our attention on children's literature for use in the elementary classroom. New books from the Bank Street Book Store will be available for review. For librarians, teachers and reading specialists.
Section 2 ( grades4th-6th) Lisa Von Drasek is the children's librarian at Bank Street College and serves as the children's literature specialist for children, parents, faculty and graduate students. She wrote and edited the New York State Summer Reading Manual Discover 2000 Read, and, in 1999, was named a Library of Congress American Memory Fellow.
Credit and Non-Credit New Perspectives courses are offered for graduate credit and non-credit as indicated. Students may earn one credit in one weekend and two credits in two weekends. Readings and a paper are required for credit.
