We have only a few more days this month to address the 2001 Caldecott and Newbery announcements. It seems that there hasn't been much CCBC-Net commentary about Christopher Bing's visual treatment of the poem Casey at the Bat (Handprint Books), a new edition that was more than 7-8 years in the making. Or about The Wanderer (Joanna Cotler Books / HarperCollins) by Sharon Creech with its many chapters and distinctive decorations by David Diaz. Or about some of the other books cited by the Caldecott and Newbery Award process. Perhaps some of you have been able to round up a copy of one or more of these books since the announcement was made. What are your thoughts about any of the books? As a reminder, here's a list of the Newbery & Caldecott winners and honor books. - Ginny
