Thank you for your final comments on the National Book Awards nominees, and to all who participated in such a lively and thought-provoking discussion.
It's now time to turn our attention to the awards announcements made yesterday at the American Library Association MidWinter Meeting. For those of you who have been trying to find out the winners and honor books but have not been able to access the American Library Association web site (which seems to be having problems and to which we provide links from our site), I am providing a list of the children's literature awards that were announced. We invite your initial responses to these announcements in the next day or two before we begin our formal discussion of the Newbery and Caldecott award and honor books later this week.
