I must pipe up here on behalf of my students. Overwhelmingly, our hit of the year has been Stick Figure by Lori Gottleib. I believe it was published as an adult book, but I have four copies and none are ever here. They keep passing it around and around and around. Every girl (yes, it appeals only to the girls so far) that has managed to get it back has raved about it.

My personal favorite this year has been Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging. It gives us a chance to laugh, and even my crying girls need that in their lives (as I like to keep reminding them). I can just picture Angus on the drapery rod, ready to pounce on any unsuspecting passerby. My boys seem to pick it up a lot because it mentions thongs and who knows what they think snogging is.
