Today I finished reading "Because of Winn-Dixie" to my sixth graders. It has consistently kept them engaged, and laughing. Toward the end of the book there is a point where Opal makes a list of the ten things she knows about her lost dogs, to help people look for them. As I finished number ten one of the girls piped up, "Number eleven is that he's the nicest dog in the world." This is a winner with this group.
