The Original Art Show at the Society of Illlustrators , New York. This juried exhibition presents over 200 original works selected from the children's books published this year. This is the only retrospective of the Original Art for this field held each year.
I will be escorting a group of graduate students from my Children's Literature class to this exhibit on Saturday December 9th. This is an opportunity to see up close the original art that goes into children's picture books. The gallery is hung with the original children's book art ( ex- Brian Pinkney's scratchboard art, Jerry Pinkney's watercolors, Lois Ehlert's collages...) and there is usually a table containing all the picture books produced with the selected art.
Anyone who wishes to may join us. The exhibit is free and we will be meeting there at 1:00.
