In the midst of the start-of-the-month announcements, I want to take the time to express appreciation for the many insightful comments on nonfiction as a means of exploring and learning about history. From the lively and thoughtful discussion early in the month on biography to the many wonderful suggestions we've had from teachers on dynamic ways to generate interest and enthusiasm for the past using literature for the young to the great suggestions from librarians, teachers and others on specific books to try, the discussion covered a lot of interesting ground.
On Monday we will begin the discussion of favorites of the year.
In the meantime, this announcement period at the start of the month is a good time to remind everyone once again that whenever you want to reply to an announcement or a specific off-topic request posted on CCBC-Net, you MUST type the individual's e-mail address into the TO box of your e-mail program. Please do not hit REPLY and post your personal response to the entire list. (We know mistakes happen, and our periodic reminders will continue as needed.)
