One of my favorite books of 2000 is: Stranger in the Woods, a Photographic Fantasy, by Carl R. Sams II & Jean Stoick. Published by Carl R. Sams II Photography, Milford, MI. Winner of the Benjamin Franklin Award from the Publisher's Marketing Assoc. The photographs in this book are amazing, conveying a feeling of peacefulness & tranquility of the forest in winter. Typical Wisconsin woodland animals discuss the arrival of a stranger who appeared in the forest. They discover a snowman made just for them by two young watching children, with seeds on the hat, nuts for eyes, mouth, and buttons, a carrot nose and corn scattered about. The book ends with a recipe for the snowman. It makes a delightful winter read-aloud.
