I had the great good fortune to meet Bob Cormier at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival this past spring. He was so gracious and warm and funny and smart. We struck up an e-mail relationship. I received one from him on August 22nd. Here is an excerpt from it:
"Someone asked me recently if there was a sense of competition or ego-clashes among YA writers. And I told him that it was just the opposite, that there is a sense of camaraderie among us and that we share each other's success. I' ve been around for more than 25 years and it's always been like that."
All of Bob's comrades are mourning the loss of this supremely generous and talented man on this terribly sad day.
