One more Amistad book, which I thought was the best when I contrasted several for an article in the LA Times a couple of years ago: Suzanne Jurmain's Freedom's Sons: The True Story of the Amistad Mutiny (Lothrop, 1998), especially notable for its scrupulous sourcing, bibliographical materials, and--particularly rare in books for young people-?ptions that actually give sources for the archival illustrations.
