----------------- INSTANT CHILDREN'S BIOGRAPHY ON NEW PRESIDENT HANGING IN BALANCE Plans for Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing to publish an instant biography of the forty-third president, in both electronic and print formats, are on hold until election results are final. Simon & Schuster had scheduled release of an eBook biography PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH or PRESIDENT ALBERT GORE at 12:01a.m. on November 8, 2000, but has held back publication until the uncertainty surrounding the election's outcome has been resolved. Determined not to release the wrong book prematurely, Simon & Schuster will release its eBook as soon as a president-elect is named. The publication date of the original paperback version of the book from Simon & Schuster's Aladdin imprint, previously scheduled to ship to stores on November 14, 2000, has been postponed until, "history writes the ending," explains Brenda Bowen, VP, Publisher, hardcovers and paperbacks, Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing. Bowen continued, "We thought it might be tough to publish a biography immediately following the election, but we never imagined it would be this tough!"
