[CCBC-Net] Nonfiction in the Classroom

Thanks for the suggestions, Jane. I've read The Longitude Prize and, in fact, am thinking about reading it aloud although I think the story itself moves rather slowly for that purpose. Interestingly, there's a chapter in an otherwise pretty ordinary new book about clocks that sums up the story in a way that might be more appealing to my quick-bite students. I put my copy (of the Dash book) on the back shelf of my classroom with other new non-fiction but have had no takers. (I'm sitting on the new Sibert non-fiction prize committee this year and have had an unusual access to non-fiction. Oh my! What a range!) I LOVE Monica's new book, which I watched grow. I envy you both the chance to have presented together last year -- we're working on concocting some excuse to do the same. I'm looking forward to reading Jakarta Missing. I hope it turns up in the spring. Will you be at ALA?
