USBBY (the United States Board on Books for Youth) invites everyone to its annual meeting during ALA's midwinter session in Washington DC to hear an address by Sarah Ellis, one of Canada's premier award-winning authors. The meeting will take place on Friday evening January 12, 2000 at 8 p.m. The location will be posted in early December, or check your convention program. Sarah Ellis will speak on "Writers as Children, Children as Writers".
Book sales and autographing will be available, and there will be a reception following the talk, provided by two of her publishers Simon & Schuster and Fitzhenry & Whiteside. Sarah Ellis is an acclaimed children's writer, librarian, speaker and journalist. She has taught children's literature at universities across Canada and in the United States, Europe and Japan. She is a regular contributor to The Horn Book, Quill and Quire, and The Looking Glass. Her most recent books include From Reader To Writer: Teaching Writing Through Classic Children's Books and The Young Writer's Companion (Groundwood 2000).
