Adult/child versions of auto/biographies...

Steven Engelfried and Jane Kurtz have both recommended Joan Dash's "The Longitude Prize" (Farrar, 2000). Can anyone tell me how it compares with Dava Sobel's best-selling adult book: "Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of his Time" (Walker Publ Co, US, 1995)? Does it cover the same material but just for younger readers? How young? It was interesting to hear of the picture book version in the works.

Re (auto)biography, a group of 12 junior high school girls here at our school were enthralled recently by Adeline Yen Mah's "Chinese Cinderella". In preparation for our discussion of the book, I read her longer (adult) original, "Falling Leaves", and the girls quizzed me about what she had added to or left out of the younger version. Can anyone tell me about any other auto/biographies written twice -- once for adults and once for children?
