December 2000: Favorite Books of 2000 - What was the best book you read in 2000? The last month of the year has traditionally been a time when we invite members of the CCBC-Net community to share their favorite books of the year.
January 2000: National Book Award winner (to be announced) and finalists. The finalists, named last month, include: Forgotten Fire
(A Melanie Kroupa Book, Dorling Kindersley Publishing, Inc.) by Adam Bagdasarian; The Book of the Lion (Viking, Penguin Putnam Books for Young Readers) by Michael Cadnum; Many Stones (Front Street) by Carolyn Coman; Hurry Freedom! (Crown Publishers) by Jerry Stanley; and Homeless Bird (HarperCollins Children's Books) by Gloria Whelan. Later in January, we'll discuss the winner and honor books for the Newbery Award and Caldecott Award, both of which will be announced on Monday, January 15, during the American Library Association's (ALA) Midwinter Meeting.
February 2001: We'll continue discussing ALA children's and young adult book awards this month, taking a look at the Coretta Scott King Award Author and Illustrator award winers and honor books for outstanding writing and illustration by and African American; and the Michael L. Printz award winner and honor books for outstanding writing for young adults.
