I'm not sure how dreamlike they are, but I love the Angel Dominguez illustrations for Alice. Since usually I prefer the original illustrations for anything, I was shocked to discover how much I liked these new (Artisan, 1996) ones. They show Oxford and they are just so pretty and silly that they delight while amusing. I don't have the book

at hand, so can't be more specific. Check Amazon for the cover of this wonderful edition. Dominguez also wrote and illustrated Diary of a Victorian Mouse (Arcade 1991), which may be of interest to Alice and Lewis Carroll fans. It shows scenes from Victorian England. Populated by mice, of course.
