Harry's family

I thought it was intresting what Florence said about Harry's family being
"overdone" in book 1. I think Rowling had to set the stage for how much his life is going to change through the series. She also does a nice job of letting her writing come through the eyes of a 12/13 year old boy, family is starting to become less important while friends increase in value. The readers also needed to know how Harry had been raised and who he had been living with to help us understand why he is wisked away to a magic school where he is famous. I think as Harry grows up, he will see less and less of Privet Street.
