Females in Harry Potter IV

Okay, this will probably get me in trouble, but...

Is it Rowling's responsibility to supply us with strong female characters? When we read a story with strong women in it, do we complain that there aren't any strong male characters? Sometimes I think we are fogetting that Rowling is just telling a story
here. I suppose you could argue that she does have some responsibility to her readers because of the huge popularity of the books. But I am worried that we are so busy being the pc police that the pleasure of just reading the books because they are a w onderfully entertaining story. I have to admit, though I like the books fine, I really can't see what all the fuss is about, especially from an adult's perspective.
For kids, who I fear are nothing more than little consumers, I get it--it's like having to eat at McDonald's, wear Nike shoes and have a Power Puff Girls or Pokemon
(remember him?) backpack. But the devotion to these books by adults, ones who aren't even involved in books for children, is mystifying to me.
