Ron's family is to Harry what his aunt, uncle, and cousin could never be...supportive and caring. Ron is a buddy, equal, and a true friend. Harry's family is an interesting contrast to Ron's. Although the parents do get upset, it's different than the m anner in which Harry's family gets upset.
I find it interesting that Rowling chose the mixed aspect. A lot of children can identify with Harry's being from two backgrounds.
