Like Linda, I think HP has been a link for many adults to discover the wonderful literature available today for young adults. I have been blatantly (and joyfully) indoctrinating our Assistant Superintendent for Instruction to young adult literature for the past year. The entre was HP, but she has now gone on to Jip, Charlotte Doyle, Walk Two Moons, Holes, Whirligig, etc. Her enthusiastic interest and excitement has been rewarding, and, I think generated support for what we at the lower levels do. HP has been a good thing. I'm sorry to see the NYT demote the literature we cherish and promote to a footnote!
