Quidditch as a spectator sport didn't bother me, either. I think football (American) is quite boring to watch, tho' I understand it well enough to believe it is great to play. I understand that-other-British-game (ie, Cricket) is boring to watch if you don't know how to play. I enjoy watching a good game of basketball or tennis: two sports I have played myself, so I can follow them and appreciate what's going on. I assume Hogwarts to be a Quidditch culture, where everyone plays or can follow the play.
