Henry, Beezus and Ramona

Your post about Klickitat street reminded me of an "adventure" I had a couple of years ago. I was in Portland for a conference with a bunch of middle school teachers and we found ourselves on Klickitat Street. I remembered the name immediately and was quite excited. My colleagues didn't know what I was talking about and thought I was crazy to want my picture taken next to a street sign on Ramona's street. It reminded me of many fond days reading Beverly Cleary as a child in the 60's. Alas, I didn't know about the park or that statues! I also read the Ramona books and the mouse books to my daughters, now ten and thirteen a few years back, they loved the stories as well. Ribsy still holds up today as well. This spring my college education students read The Mouse and The Motorcycle aloud to third graders, it went over very well. Michele Vosberg
